4/30/2023 0 Comments The escapists walking dead review![]() ![]() Nothing prevents you from assembling some scrap metal and arming one of your companions with the resulting machete. In each location, we find dozens of items randomly scattered around cabinets and bags that we can complete and combine in many ways. There is a lot to criticize, but no one can deny that there is one aspect in which the game shines – just like its predecessor, it’s crafting. The job order goes something like this: “Rick, I’m sorry that a great tragedy happened to you … I lost my lighter somewhere, can you look for it?” Place any item in place of the lighter and you have thirty quests ready… The jobs are random enough that even Carl calls his father by name. Ninety percent of them are either finding someone an item, or killing a zombie with that item. The companions wandering around the locations give you side quests, which are loudly called “quests” in the notebook. ![]() We know what we have to do, but how to do it – it depends only on us. Achieving the goal requires us to constantly think, plan and look for alternatives. ![]() Unfortunately, it is different, but on the other hand, it makes some sense. Having such a license at your disposal, you could be tempted to diversify and play with iconic moments. Right after starting the level, we get the main goal, coinciding with the comic storyline. The tasks that we have to deal with are a big disadvantage. Rick’s speed and strength are described by separate factors that we can develop in the gym, but after completing a given location, everything resets and you have to start the monotonous training from the beginning. A much better solution is to run a slalom between walking corpses, even though it usually ends with death in a dead end. The steering does not help either, because it allows you to turn only in the classic four directions, so the horde running diagonally has an open path after devouring the brave sheriff. But more often we have melee weapons at our disposal, and killing one zombie with an ax is a terribly difficult task. It’s not bad, when we find a gun with a full set of ammunition, then you can block the sight and take out the approaching dead man. It’s worth working on keeping the walkers away, because the combat system is a bit… old school. If we neglect our daily duties, walkers become bolder, and the greater the degree of danger, the more of them break through the fence. The daily routine also includes work, and to somehow motivate the survivor’s leader to wash floors or do laundry, a threat system has been implemented. Cutting these fragments would only help the game, because you have to eat, but motivating talks are completely pointless. Instead of a morning jail meeting, Rick holds a brief briefing where he keeps saying the same things, then everyone goes to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a short bedtime chat. The system has been moved without major changes, which turns out to be a double-edged weapon. You are probably interested in how the gameplay looks like. Fortunately, the next locations are much more complex, and their passage requires creativity and constant combining. ![]() When I was able to pass Hershel’s farm in just twenty minutes, the whole thing felt like fun for one evening. As you can see, it is not much, and the whole thing ends with the classic “to be continued …”. We’ll spend some time at Hershel’s Farm, make ourselves at home in the prison, visit Governor Woodbury’s habitat, and visit pre-Negan Alexandria. There are five locations, of which the hospital in which Rick wakes up is a short tutorial, so in fact there are four iconic locations. The zombie apocalypse is only a pretext for a creative representation of several famous locations. The presentation of the plot is based on a few still slides shown before the stage, during and at the end. The game is based on the acclaimed comic book by Robert Kirkman, but if you are only following the show, you won’t feel many differences, other than one significant Woodbury event. The subtitle “The Walking Dead” means that we are dealing more with the spin-off of The Escapist than its continuation. Let’s check if The Escapists The Walking Dead (PS4), based on a similar formula, is worth our money. Review: The Escapists The Walking Dead (PS4).Īfter a series of escapes from high-security prisons, it is time to face one of the most sought-after licenses in recent years. ![]()
